James Hiatrides Fine Art

Where technique meets creative expression

About

My name is James Hiatrides and art has been the center of my life for as long as I can remember; constantly drawing, painting, creating and learning. I’ve always been drawn to realism and understanding how to create things from life, whether that be landscapes, portraits or figure paintings.

To me, art has always been about representing the life around us while exploring creative freedom and expression. This is something I embody in my work as I try to capture a person for who they are and how they would like to be portrayed. For example, in portraiture, this could be something unique to the person such as article of clothing, color composition, a pet, etc. For a landscape, I’ll capture the day (cloudy, warm, bright, snowing, etc.) or the feeling evoked by the client.

Education:

Aside from my art classes in public school, I attended the Huntington Fine Arts portfolio program for 5 years and then attained my Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Hartford, with a double minor in Business, and Art History. I attained my technical training at the Angel Academy of Art in Florence Italy where I currently reside.
